Safety

Our priority = Your safety

For all carrying accessories there are international  (ISO), French (NFR) or German  (DIN) standards which define the safety requirements by way of very severe tests.
Automaxi International guarantees to its customers the compliance of all its products with these existing standards.
To ensure this, before each product launch, the product is tested by independent laboratories in France (LNE, UTAC) and in Germany (TÜV).
In addition, Automaxi carries out regularly (for example on each new roof bar assignment), tests of the compliance of its products with standards conducted in its own in-house laboratory which is validated and inspected regularly by the LNE and the TÜV .
To complement these standards, Automaxi carries out endurance tests on its products on a test bench and under extreme conditions of use.

Test on roof bars

In order to comply with existing standards, roof bars must withstand three extremely severe static tests on a test bench:
  • FA : tearing test simulating catching in the wind,
  • FL : longitudinal tensile test simulating an emergency braking or rear impact situation,
  • FLQ : 20° longitudinal tensile test simulating taking a bend at high speed.

Test on roof bike carrier

In order to comply with existing standards, roof bike carriers must withstand nine extremely severe static tests on a test bench:
  • FA : tearing test simulating catching in the wind,
  • FL : 2 longitudinal tensile tests in line with the bike simulating an emergency braking or rear impact situation,
  • FLQ : 6 lateral tensile tests simulating taking a bend at high speed or a strong side wind.

Test on rear door or spare wheel bike carrier

In order to comply with the draft standard in force, rear door or spare wheel bike carriers must withstand several types of tests:
  • Extremely severe static tests on a test bench to check the general resistance of the product.
  • Dynamic tests on a test track to check the resistance of the product under extreme conditions of use.
  • Attachment system tearing and elongation tests.

Test on tow bar bike carrier

In order to comply with the draft standard in force, tow bar bike carriers must withstand two types of tests:
  • Extremely severe static tests on a test bench to check the general resistance of the product,
  • Dynamic tests on a test track to check the resistance of the product under extreme conditions of use.

Endurance test

Automaxi regularly carries out endurance tests or product life situation simulation tests (damaged road, etc.).
  • For example, there is the TNO test on a vibrating bench.
  • The aim of this test is to measure the endurance of the products by simulating the life situation of the product, e.g. driving on a paved road or on speed bumps.
  • This test measures the number of vibration frequencies which the product can withstand.
  • This test then assesses the various deteriorations of the product in order to determine its life bike and its weak points.
